Recently, the Romanian artist embarked on a special collaboration with XiuLi, a talented singer from Zhuhai, China, in a musical project that builds a cultural bridge between two different worlds united by the universal language of music. This exceptional collaboration was born during one of DJ Lucian's journeys to China.

Recently returned from China, DJ Lucian granted us a new interview in which he talks about music, his international experiences, recent collaborations, and future projects.

Q: Welcome back! You recently returned from China. How was this experience, and what are the most important things you brought back with you from this journey?

DJ Lucian:
It was another wonderful experience in China. During this trip, I had the opportunity to visit Chongqing, Chengdu, Kunming, and Dali, cities that deeply impressed me with their beauty, authentic culture, and the energy of their people.

Chinese culture is a timeless treasure. Poetry, festivals, traditions, and thousands of years of history are present everywhere and provide a constant source of inspiration. It is fascinating to see how values and customs that have existed for millennia coexist harmoniously with ultra-modern cities and cutting-edge technology.

However, what impressed me the most were the people. Everywhere I went, I met warm, hospitable, and incredibly kind individuals. Even when there were language barriers, people always found a way to communicate through smiles, kindness, and a genuine willingness to help. I always felt welcomed with open arms.

I have developed a deep admiration for China's culture and history, but also for the spirit of its people. I believe that the true wealth of this extraordinary country lies in its people, through the generosity, respect, and warmth they share with others.

China is, without a doubt, a wonderful country that has completely won me over. I love China and its extraordinary people, and every journey there gives me memories and life lessons that I will cherish forever.

Q: You recently released "Dawn Love" together with XiuLi, and now you've returned with "The Magic of Yunnan", a song inspired by one of China's most spectacular regions. It seems that this part of the world has touched you deeply. Were you truly that impressed by Yunnan Province? What inspired you to compose this track, and what emotions or message did you want to convey through "The Magic of Yunnan"?

DJ Lucian:
Yes, Yunnan deeply impressed me. It is a truly magical place where nature, culture, and spirituality blend together in a unique way.

During my journey, I felt a special energy that is difficult to describe with words, and "The Magic of Yunnan" was born from the desire to transform that feeling into music.

This song is created from soul to soul. It is not just a track, but an emotion, an inner journey, and in a way, a true mantra of happiness. I wanted people listening to it to feel peace, inspiration, and joy, no matter where they are.

Yunnan feels like a place straight out of a fairy tale. There, mountains dance with the clouds, rivers seem to whisper ancient legends, and the rice terraces reflect the sky in a breathtaking spectacle. Tibetan temples, colorful villages nestled on the hillsides, and the beauty of nature create a unique atmosphere that you never forget.

For me, Yunnan represents one of those rare places that have preserved their authentic, wild, and mysterious charm. Through "The Magic of Yunnan," I wanted to share a part of that magic with people around the world and invite them, at least through music, on a journey to one of the most beautiful corners of our planet.

Q: Many artists focus primarily on commercial success. You seem to be searching more for emotion and meaning behind the music. What does success mean to you, and what would you like to leave behind through your creations?

DJ Lucian:
For me, music has never been just about numbers, charts, or commercial success. I create music from soul to soul. Every song I compose carries a part of my emotions, experiences, and feelings. I live every vibration of music, and I believe the most beautiful creations are born when you allow your soul to speak.

Success, in my view, means touching people's hearts, bringing them joy, inspiration, hope, or simply a few moments of peace in an increasingly hectic world.

Whenever I receive messages from people in different corners of the world telling me that my music brought them happiness or helped them through difficult moments, I feel that I have fulfilled my mission as an artist.

China holds a special place in my heart. It is one of the few countries where I find the sense of peace, balance, and inspiration that I need in order to create. The culture, nature, the energy of the places, and the extraordinary people I have met help me connect with music on a deeper level.

Many of my most beautiful musical ideas came to me during my travels through China, while admiring its breathtaking landscapes or simply enjoying the atmosphere around me.

I am convinced that I will return to China with great pleasure. Every time I go there, I discover something new, and this country continues to inspire me both as an artist and as a human being.

Through my music, I hope to convey some of the beauty, energy, and harmony that I have found there and leave behind songs that bring genuine emotions and beautiful memories to people.

Q: How was your experience in Kunming and Dali? From your posts, it seems that you lived some truly special moments and discovered fascinating places. At the same time, it appears that you met some extraordinary people. What memories did you take away from these cities, and did you make new friends during your journey?

DJ Lucian:

Kunming surprised me in a very beautiful way. It is a vibrant city, yet peaceful at the same time, where nature and urban life blend together in perfect harmony.

While walking around the city, I came across a group of locals performing traditional Tibetan dances in a park. What happened next was truly special — they invited me to join them.

We danced together, shared smiles, and although we didn't speak the same language, we instantly connected. It was one of those experiences that stays in your heart forever and reminds you that music and human energy need no translation.

During my time in Kunming, I also made many local friends. We spent time together, shared meals, and I had the opportunity to discover authentic Chinese cuisine. I tried the famous mushroom hot pot for the first time — a delicious experience, having previously tasted the classic hot pot in Chengdu and Chongqing.

Chinese cuisine is truly remarkable, and the people there are great food lovers. At the same time, they are very active and passionate about sports and maintaining a balanced lifestyle.

Dali was equally special to me.

Nestled between the majestic Cangshan Mountains and the crystal-clear waters of Erhai Lake, the city has an almost timeless and poetic atmosphere. Its ancient streets, the white courtyards of the Bai people, and the traditional details make you feel as though you have stepped into another world, where time flows more slowly and with greater depth.

One evening, I discovered a small live music club in Dali. It wasn't just about the music — it was about the people.

We didn't speak the same language, yet we laughed, sang, and shared the moment as if we had known each other for a lifetime. It was one of those nights that reminds you that music is a universal language, capable of bringing together people from completely different corners of the world.

These are memories that stay with you forever — memories of people, energy, and those rare moments that make you feel at home, even when you are far away from it.

Kunming and Dali are two cities that truly deserve to be visited, and China itself is a country that deserves to be discovered. Every journey there brings new experiences, meaningful encounters, and unforgettable memories.

Q: For those who follow you and are inspired by your experiences, what important information would you share about China, both from a travel perspective and for those interested in business opportunities there? Where can people find you for more stories, travel insights, and practical advice based on your experience in China?

DJ Lucian:

For anyone planning a trip to China, there are a few essential things I would highly recommend.

First of all, mobile payment apps are indispensable. Alipay and WeChat Pay are used everywhere, from small shops to restaurants and transportation services. It is also very important to create a WeChat account, as it is used not only for communication but also by many hotels and local services to stay in touch with guests.

As for connectivity, if you have an eSIM-compatible phone, I strongly recommend installing an eSIM plan before traveling. I personally used Nomad eSIM throughout my stay, and it worked very well, allowing me to access many apps without the need for a VPN, even when I wasn't connected to Wi-Fi. If your phone does not support eSIM, another option is to purchase a Chinese SIM card, although in that case a VPN is usually necessary to access applications such as Google, WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook.

Transportation in China is very affordable. Didi, which is similar to Uber, is an extremely useful app and can also be accessed directly through mini-programs within Alipay.

For booking and travel planning, Trip.com is one of the best applications for domestic flights, hotels, and train tickets.

When it comes to navigation and translation, Google Translate (with VPN) and Microsoft Translator are very useful. If you prefer not to use a VPN, apps such as Papago, DeepL, and Pleco are excellent alternatives. In fact, Pleco is probably the best application for learning and translating Chinese, including audio pronunciation.

For food delivery and local services, Meituan is one of the most popular apps in China. It allows users to order food, make restaurant reservations, and access various local services and discounts. It can easily be accessed through WeChat or Alipay.

Another important tip is to complete the online China Arrival Card before traveling, as it is required for immigration and customs procedures.

For navigation, Baidu Maps and Amap (Gaode Maps) are the most accurate mapping applications available, although they are primarily in Chinese. For metro systems in major cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, and Chengdu, MetroMan is a simple and very useful app.

People interested in learning more about China and Asia in general can find me on my Facebook group, "Everything About Asia" ("Totul Despre Asia"), as well as on TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram under my name, Lucian Mitrache, where I regularly share travel experiences and useful information.

For business opportunities and reliable information about China, I recommend following people with real experience on the ground.

One of them is Radu Hanu, whom you can find on TikTok. He is a Romanian entrepreneur who has lived in China for more than ten years and owns a factory there. He is married to a Chinese woman, has built a wonderful family, and is someone who makes our country proud. He has even been interviewed by Chinese television networks. His experience and insights are extremely valuable for anyone interested in doing business in China.

I would also recommend Victor from Beijing, whom you can also find on TikTok. He is another Romanian living in China, married to a Chinese woman, and someone who shares valuable and authentic content about life and business in China. Both of them have first-hand experience and can provide practical and trustworthy advice.

I believe that learning from people who truly know the country and its culture is one of the best ways to understand the opportunities that China has to offer.

Q: What is your message to our readers? What are your future plans, and what is your final message?

DJ Lucian: In conclusion, I can say that this experience in China has been one of the most beautiful and inspiring journeys of my life. It helped me discover not only spectacular places but also extraordinary people, different cultures, and an energy that deeply inspired my musical creation. I will certainly return to China with great pleasure. It is a country that still has so much to offer and to be discovered, and every visit brings new ideas, emotions, and stories that I want to transform into music.

Additionally, a new musical project alongside XiuLi is on the way—a track we are currently working on and that I can't wait to share with the public. It is a special collaboration that continues this cultural bridge between Romania and China, and I hope it will convey the same emotion and authenticity as previous projects.

I highly recommend that anyone who has the opportunity to visit China do so without hesitation. It is a wonderful country full of spectacular contrasts, from ancient traditions to impressive modern cities, but above all, a country with warm, hospitable, and open people. It is an experience that can change your perspective on the world. For me, China is not just a travel destination, but a continuous source of inspiration. I believe the true value of such an experience is that it transforms you, opens you up, and connects you with the world in a profound way.

And my final message is simple: travel, discover, be open to other cultures, and let yourself be inspired by people and places. The world is much more beautiful when you look at it with an open heart and with respect for its diversity.
